This is a good example of why I would not have succeeded as a beat reporter... deadlines.  A YEAR and a couple of weeks since the last update.  Be sure and look around; appreciate each day and the folks you love.  It can get away from you if you're not careful.

Happy New Year +53 days.  I suppose this is where somebody like Neil Peart would wax poetically about 2009 and "how great all the fans were in all the beautiful countries they toured." 

"The band is just coming back from a couple of months on holiday and we're heading back into the studio to begin work on our new album."

I, however, find myself without wax.  Which is ok, because I never was a very hairy guy.

We are coming off a bit of a hiatus and I'm looking forward to shaking the dust off this 40Rock thing at The Filling Station this Saturday.  Thanks to one of the best friends I've ever known, I'll be playing through a new Fender '57 Twin Amp.  I don't know how many people would buy an amp like that (without telling you), hold on to it for a year and then sell it to you for cost.  Not very many.  I consider myself fortunate to be friends with one of them.

Add to that the fact that I get to play with three of the nicest, no bullshit, all-around good guys in the world.

Best of all... my Muse will be there.  Without whom, I would not be here.

I am a lucky, lucky guy.
